Happy New Year!

We are pleased to announce that on December 29, 2006 the Library Foundation of Buffalo and Erie County, Inc. completed the transfer of its assets to the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, Inc. (CFGB). This decision was based on months of research and the opinion of the Foundation's Board that the CFGB was the only local organization that could provide the desired combination of expertise and donor assistance, investment oversight and expanded investment options, and cost-effective administrative services. Furthermore, the CFGB brings a wealth of experience in coordinating complex development and fundraising activities, in addition to, providing the required donor support services which will assure you that your gifts will be permanent and well-managed.

The Library Foundation's mission has always been to devote its funding exclusively to developing and augmenting programs and services for the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library System, and that mission is not changing. The Foundation's arrangement with the CFGB will greatly enhance the Foundation's ability to preserve and build its assets to benefit the B&ECPL; well into the future.

Additionally, in connection with its restructuring, the Foundation Directors stressed the importance of enabling all Erie County libraries to benefit from the efforts of the Foundation. Thus, the Library Foundation will be instituting a grant process that will allow all libraries in the B&ECPL; System to apply for Foundation funding; a percentage of available funds will be reserved for branch projects.

Finally, in conjunction with the transfer, the Library Foundation has moved its office into a space at the CFGB. Our new address is:
